Access Health and Community (AccessHC) is a leading not-for-profit healthcare provider with over 150 years of experience delivering inclusive, person-centered care across Melbourne’s inner and outer east and northeast.

The Prospect

The Access Health and Community Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) assist community members of all ages suffering from urgent, non-life-threatening injuries or illness to obtain fast priority care by avoiding long wait times in public Emergency Departments. These services support St Vincent’s Public Hospital Emergency and Maroondah Hospital. The Richmond & Lilydale Urgent Care Centres are open seven days a week from 8am – 10pm, and in addition provides referrals to a wide range of Access Health and Community Medical and Allied Health Services.

We are seeking Nurses that have the flexibility to undertake our 3- 10pm shifts in both Richmond & Lilydale with the occasional weekend am shift available.

What you will be doing Key Responsibilities

You'll be working within an appropriately equipped consulting space,



to provide high-quality assessment and care

- Provide initial clinical contact with all patients who attend for assessment, whether they have pre-booked appointment or "walk-in" to the service
- Triage all patients in accordance with UCC clinical practice guidelines in conjunction with GP on duty and discuss clinical presentations with the General Practitioners
- Liaise with Ambulance Victoria, the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department, Nurse on Call and Maternal Child Health Nurse
- Monitor patients and reassess / escalate triage where required
- Maintain effective patient flow with demand management
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and standards
- In collaboration with the General Practitioners and clinic staff, organise referrals to internal and external organisations
- Provide advice and information about additional services available from AccessHC and the wider community (e.g. for acute and chronic disease management)
- Provide a courteous, friendly and efficient service to all clients

What you will bring- Key criteria

If you enjoy a fast-paced environment with the ability to maintain composure in high pressured environments and possess outstanding interpersonal, communication time management skills this might be the role for you

- Bachelor of Nursing
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Div 1)
- Emergency Department experience, triage, or post graduate qualifications in emergency / critical care or the ability to demonstrate comprehensive patient assessment
- Accredited Nurse Immunisation Certificate
- Experience with both adult and paediatric patients
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, Best Practice and Pracsoft (or similar clinical software), and relevant software applications
- Proficiency in a community language would be advantageous, but not essential
- Must follow AHC Infectious disease policy and wear PPE when required
