Talent International is searching for an experienced Business Analyst to join a higher education client of ours on an initial 12-month contract.
We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of complex business problems, work confidently through ambiguity and translate business needs into clear requirements and practical solutions.
- University Sector // Long-term contract

- Strong focus on problem solving, stakeholder engagement and solution design
About the role
Working closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers and technology teams, you will lead analysis across the project lifecycle. This includes defining problems and scope, assessing solution options, documenting requirements and supporting successful implementation.
The client places a strong emphasis on critical thinking, initiative and sound judgement. You’ll need to confidently challenge assumptions, identify what needs investigating and communicate transparent recommendations to different audiences.
Key responsibilities
- Independently investigate business problems, identify root causes and define scope, objectives and intended benefits.
- Elicit and document functional, non-functional, technical and integration requirements.
- Map as-is and to-be business processes and recommend improvements.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops to clarify, validate and prioritise requirements.
- Assess solution options, feasibility, risks,
dependencies and impacts.
- Develop clear specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria and requirements traceability.
- Support solution design, testing, UAT, implementation and business readiness.
- Present analysis and recommendations to business, technical and senior executive stakeholders.
Skills and experience
- Demonstrated BA experience within large or complex organisations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently through unclear or evolving requirements.
- Experience translating business needs into functional, non-functional, technical and integration specifications.
- Strong process mapping skills, including BPMN.
- Confident stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation and written communication.
- Experience supporting projects from discovery through to implementation.
- BA qualifications, BPMN certification, Jira/Confluence, Agile or hybrid delivery and formal ICT governance experience will be highly regarded.
Selection process
The process includes an interview, followed by a practical assessment for successful candidates. The assessment focuses on how you approach a realistic, ambiguous business problem, with an emphasis on reasoning and judgement. No knowledge of a specific university system is required.
