Lead the delivery of major capital works projects that will shape Darebin’s future. Working across a diverse portfolio of community, civic and infrastructure projects, you will oversee projects from planning and procurement through to construction and handover. Partnering with senior leaders, consultants, contractors and the community, you will drive projects that create lasting public value while contributing to the growth and improvement of Council’s project delivery capability.

About the role:

As a Senior Project Manager, you'll lead the delivery of high-profile capital works projects across Council's infrastructure portfolio. From business case development and procurement through to construction and project handover, you'll provide strategic leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on time and within budget.

Working closely with Executive leaders, contractors, consultants, government agencies and the community, you'll drive strong governance, manage commercial and contractual outcomes, and help shape infrastructure that benefits Darebin for generations to come. You'll also mentor Project Managers and contribute to the continuous improvement of Council's project management practices.

You will:

- Lead the delivery of major capital works projects from planning and business case development through to procurement, construction and handover.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and contracts to ensure successful project outcomes.




- Build strong relationships with contractors, consultants, government agencies, internal stakeholders and the community.
- Provide strategic advice and reporting to senior leaders, governance groups and Council on project performance and key decisions.
- Drive best-practice project management, governance and continuous improvement across Council’s project delivery functions.
- Mentor and support project team members, contributing to a strong culture of collaboration, accountability and excellence.
- Deliver infrastructure projects that provide lasting benefits for the Darebin community

About you:

You will bring:

- Extensive experience delivering complex building, civil or infrastructure projects from planning through to completion.
- Strong project management, procurement and contract management skills, with the ability to successfully manage budgets, risks and competing priorities.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with confidence presenting advice, recommendations and project outcomes to diverse audiences.
- Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, Project Management or a related discipline, alongside a commitment to delivering high-quality, community-focused outcomes.
