The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and leading the environment and community team to ensure compliance with approval conditions, licenses and permits and facilitate continual environmental improvement. The role is also responsible for ensuring the Environmental Management System (EMS) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) conforms to the requirements of ISO 14001.
You will be responsible for:
- Implement, communicate, review and improve the EMS
- Report on the performance of the EMS, including overall environmental performance, to senior management
- Coordinating the environmental management activities on site to ensure all regulatory requirements are met
- Provide a lead role in consulting with government departments, Aboriginal and community groups and other key stakeholders
- Provide advice on the regulatory approvals process and obtain any required approvals in a timely manner
- Coordinate site monitoring programs, data collection, analysis and reporting to ensure compliance with obligations, commitments and company requirements
- Supervise and develop the Advisors - Environment in their responsibilities and execution of duties
About You
Reporting directly to the Manager, Health, Safety, Environment and Community, this role would suit a technically strong and people-focused leader with the determination to implement appropriate solutions.
You will also have:
- Tertiary qualification in environmental sciences or a related discipline
- Significant experience (7+ years) in a mining environment dealing with environmental issues
- High level understanding of relevant environmental legislation, both State and Federal, impacting on mine development in WA
- Demonstrated experience in managing a small team
- Demonstrated success as an effective leader
- Experience in managing costs and budgeting
