SECRETARY MANAGER

Lead a Community Club in a Beautiful Country Town

Are you an experienced hospitality or club professional looking for the opportunity to lead a

well-established community club and become part of a vibrant country town?

We are seeking an energetic, hands-on and community-minded Secretary Manager to lead

our licensed club into its next chapter.

Our Club is an important part of the local community and offers members and visitors:

 A fully licensed Club

 A 9-hole golf course

 Two bowling greens

 Two squash courts

 Community focused

 Functions, events and social activities

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys the

variety and challenges of managing a multi-faceted regional Club.

About the role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Secretary Manager will be responsible for the overall management, operation and future development of the Club. The successful applicant will provide strong leadership to staff, maintain high standards of customer service and hospitality, manage the Club's financial performance and work closely with the Board to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the organisation. This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate must be comfortable working across all areas of the business and being actively involved in day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities

Club Operations

 Manage the day-to-day operations of the Club.

 Ensure excellent customer service and a welcoming environment for members and

guests.

 Oversee bar, gaming, hospitality and sporting operations.

 Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and customer experience.

 Manage functions, events and promotions.

Financial Management

 Prepare and manage budgets and financial forecasts.

 Monitor revenue,



expenses, wages and departmental performance.

 Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve profitability.

 Work closely with the Board and accountants on financial reporting.

 Ensure appropriate financial controls are maintained.

Staff Leadership

 Recruit, train and develop staff.

 Build a positive and high-performing team culture.

 Oversee staff rosters and manage labour costs.

 Conduct performance management where required.

 Lead by example and promote excellent customer service.

Governance & Compliance

 Work closely with the Board of Directors.

 Attend and report to Board meetings.

 Ensure compliance with all relevant NSW legislation, licensing and regulatory

requirements.

 Maintain appropriate Club policies, procedures and records.

 Ensure compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol, Responsible Conduct of

Gaming, WHS and employment requirements.

Golf, Bowls & Sporting Facilities

 Work with relevant committees, members and staff to support the successful

operation of:

o A 9-hole golf course

o Two bowling greens

o Two squash courts

 Encourage participation, membership growth and community involvement.

 Support sporting events, competitions and social activities.

 Ensure facilities are appropriately maintained and developed.

Membership & Community Engagement

 Build strong relationships with members and the wider community.





 Develop strategies to attract new members and encourage member participation.

 Support local sporting groups, community organisations and events.

 Promote the Club as a welcoming and important part of the local community.

About you

- Previous senior management experience in a Club, hotel, pub or hospitality business

- Robust financial and commercial management skills

- Experience managing budgets, wages and operational costs

- Excellent leadership and staff management abilities

- A hands-on approach to management

- Strong customer service and hospitality skills

- The ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors

- Experience with NSW liquor and gaming regulations

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong organisational and administration skills
