Remuneration: $80,211 to $92,509 pa + superannuation & leave loading
We’re looking for a dedicated Local Laws Officer / Community Ranger to play a key role in delivering exceptional, customer-focused services. In this position, you’ll be responsible for the administration and enforcement of domestic animal and livestock control, Local Laws compliance, traffic management, and parking services.
Please note: The successful candidate will be required to participate in an on-call roster.
About the Role
The Local Laws Officer / Community Ranger responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Deliver community education and provide advice regarding Council Local Laws, policies, and relevant legislative requirements.
- Investigate compliance matters, interview alleged offenders, collect and document evidence, and ensure procedural fairness throughout investigations.
- Prepare prosecution briefs and assist with legal proceedings, including representing Council in the Magistrates' Court when required.
- Enforce Local Laws and relevant legislation through proactive compliance and regulatory activities.
- Support animal management initiatives, including responding to animal-related matters, cat trapping programs, and community engagement activities.
- Assist with permit administration, infringement processes, and the collection of applicable fees and fines.
- Provide high-quality customer service and timely advice to residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to encourage compliance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Animal Management and Control or willingness to obtain.
- Certificate IV in Regulatory Compliance or equivalent and/or significant experience in a similar field.
- Significant experience in developing evidence briefs and presenting in Court.
- A valid Driver’s Licence.
- A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check.
- Satisfactory National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
