Project Engineer - Electrical | Tier 1 Mining Client
- Location: FIFO from Perth (WA Mine Site)
- Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off (12-hour shifts)
- Contract Duration: 12 Months
- Hourly Rate: $110 - $130/hr + Super
- Start Date: 21st September 2026
About the Role
We are seeking an engaging, team-oriented Electrical Project Engineer to support a Tier 1 mining giant across sustaining capital and non-process infrastructure (NPI) projects.
While electrical engineering is your primary discipline, you will drive multidisciplinary scopes involving civil, structural, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, controls, and commissioning. You will play a pivotal role in providing visible field leadership, coordinating contractors, and delivering projects safely across Port, Rail, and Mine locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery: Plan, drive, and deliver electrical scopes, including power distribution, switchboards, MCCs, cabling, lighting, communications, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Manage interfaces across contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure work is delivered to scope, schedule, budget, and high quality.
- Field Leadership: Provide strong on-site oversight, leading safety risk assessments, permit approvals, site inspections, and job execution.
- Engineering & Documentation: Prepare and review work packs, specifications, engineering drawings, tenders, and technical documentation.
- Commissioning & Handover: Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, statutory obligations, and site requirements through testing, energisation, commissioning, and final handover.
- Project Governance:
Manage procurement support, cost control, variations, progress reporting, and project risk registers.
Skills & Experience Required
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (eligible for Engineers Australia membership).
- Licence: Current unrestricted Australian C-Class Driver's Licence.
- Experience: Proven track record as an Electrical Project Engineer within mining, heavy industry, resources, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of electrical design, construction, and commissioning across Low Voltage (LV) and/or High Voltage (HV) systems.
- Lifecycle Coverage: Demonstrated success managing projects from initial scoping and design through to construction, commissioning, and close-out.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong experience handling contractor management, cost tracking, tender evaluations, variations, and claims.
- Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with Operations, Maintenance, and external vendors.
