Due to our continued growth and recent contract win, Coffey Testing is seeking an appropriately qualified and experienced person to join us as a Safety Officer in a newly created role! This role will be based out of our Melbourne (currently Campbellfield) office.

About the role

The Safety Officer is a newly created permanent full-time position based in Melbourne (currently Campbellfield). Reporting to the National Safety, Wellbeing & Radiation Manager, the role is responsible for providing regional operational safety support across Coffey Testing sites. The role will implement the Safety Management System, ensuring consistent compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Some (not all) of the duties the Safety Officer will do are:

- Ensure compliance with Coffey Testing’s Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures across allocated region.
- Develop and maintain a current working knowledge of safety developments, legislation, and practice.
- Monitor and maintain regional WHS training compliance, ensuring mandatory requirements are current across allocated sites.
- Review, update and maintain safety compliance training registers across allocated region.
- Review hazard and incident reports to ensure corrective actions are implemented and risks are effectively controlled.
- Support return-to-work coordination in consultation with the National Safety, Wellbeing & Radiation Manager and relevant stakeholders.




- Liaising with relevant claims assessors / case managers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor regional safety compliance programs and escalate non-compliance where required.
- Support radiation compliance activities within the region under the direction of the National Safety, Wellbeing & Radiation Manager.
- Review of weekly speeding reports to ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Conduct regular site inspections and workplace inspections across allocated region
- Maintain and update regional WHS data within the company safety management systems platforms ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely action closure.
- Provide practical WHS advice and guidance to managers and supervisors.
- Travel across allocated region as required to support compliance and operational needs.

About you

The role would be best suited to somebody that reflects the below qualities and experiences:

- 2+ years in a Safety Advisor or Safety Officer role
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace inspections and supporting incident investigations
- Demonstrated experience using a WHS Management System and compliance databases
- Experience supporting injury management and return-to-work processes
- High level of integrity, maturity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information
