Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Business, the Finance & HR Administrator is responsible for supporting SAM's finance, payroll and human resources functions. You’ll manage day-to-day financial administration, support fortnightly payroll, maintain employee records and HR systems, coordinate recruitment and onboarding, and provide general business administration support across the organisation.

This is a varied role that works across finance, HR, payroll, retail administration and business systems, requiring a high level of accuracy, organisation and confidentiality.

The position is offered as a fixed-term, part-time opportunity through to 31st July 2027, working 32 hours per week across 4–5 days.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day financial administration, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders, invoices, reconciliations and financial data entry

- Maintain financial records and process transactions through Xero

- Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, BAS, audit and compliance requirements

- Support the fortnightly payroll process, including payroll data, leave, employee payments and payroll enquiries

- Maintain accurate employee records and HR information through Diffuze HR

- Coordinate recruitment, employment contracts, onboarding, inductions and employee documentation

- Support performance review processes and other HR administration

- Support retail administration and transactions through the Lightspeed POS system

- Provide general administrative support to the Director of Business and Business Services team





- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across finance, HR and business administration processes

- Provide responsive and high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders

- Ensure compliance with SAM policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

- A Diploma or higher qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping or a related discipline

- Demonstrated experience in financial administration and payroll

- Experience providing HR administrative support, including recruitment and onboarding

- Experience using Xero, CloudPayroll and HR systems such as Diffuze HR

- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook

- Experience using SharePoint or similar document management systems

- Experience using Lightspeed POS or a similar retail point-of-sale system

- Robust attention to detail, accuracy and numeracy skills

- Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams

- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team

- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement

- High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality

- An interest in working in a diverse arts environment and a commitment to community and cultural development

- Working with Children Check, Police Check and Rights to Work in Australia
