This is a hands-on position suited to a capable Chef who is comfortable working independently when required and as part of an established kitchen team. You will work alongside our Head Chef and become a key member of our kitchen team at the Golden Nugget Restaurant, a unique tourism and hospitality destination in the historic goldfields town of Maldon, Victoria.
Key responsibilities
- Preparation and service of high-quality restaurant meals
- Working across grill, pans, fryer and general kitchen sections
- Maintaining consistent food quality and presentation
- Assisting with functions, events and group catering
- Food preparation and mise en place
- Stock rotation, portion control and minimising wastage
- Maintaining excellent food-safety and kitchen-hygiene standards
- Assisting the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations
- Taking responsibility for kitchen service when required
- Supporting and working effectively with other kitchen and restaurant staff
About you
- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications
- At least 3–5 years' commercial kitchen experience
- Strong restaurant, hotel, pub, resort or function experience
- Confidence working in a busy service setting
- Good knowledge of food safety and commercial kitchen procedures
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- A reliable and professional approach to work
- The ability to work as part of a small, close-knit team
- Suitably qualified international chefs are encouraged to apply.
