About POS Direct

POS Direct is a national IT service provider supporting the Australian pharmacy industry. We provide network and system infrastructure, servers, workstations, connectivity, cybersecurity, backup solutions and technical services to pharmacy clients across Australia.

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Computer Network and Systems Engineer to join our technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, configuring, deploying, maintaining and optimising network and computer systems across multiple pharmacy client environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse client requirements and existing system environments and recommend suitable network and computer system solutions.

• Design, configure, deploy and maintain servers, workstations and network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs and virtualised environments.

• Integrate the network and system infrastructure supporting pharmacy point-of-sale and dispensing environments and associated connected hardware.

• Monitor network availability, system performance, server capacity, backup status and security alerts, and implement improvements to maintain reliability and operational readiness.

• Diagnose and resolve complex network, server and system incidents, including LAN/WAN connectivity, DNS, DHCP, routing, file-sharing and system access issues.

• Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, backup, data restoration and disaster recovery arrangements across client environments.

• Coordinate system installations, infrastructure upgrades and application roll-outs, including technical testing and liaison with software,



telecommunications and hardware providers.

• Maintain accurate system configurations, network diagrams, deployment procedures and troubleshooting documentation, and provide advanced remote and on-site technical support where required.

Skills and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

• At least one year of relevant professional experience as a Computer Network and Systems Engineer, Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or in a closely related role.

• Robust knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, switching and network architecture.

• Experience configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, endpoint security and other network security controls.

• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux and virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.

• Familiarity with SAN, NAS, backup, data restoration and disaster recovery environments.

• Strong network and system troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical stakeholders.
