About the role

This is a rare opportunity to join the Geology team at Federation Mine, one of Australia's highest-grade underground gold operations.

As a Geological Field Technician, you'll play an important part in supporting exploration and mining activities by processing drill core, collecting geological data and assisting with sample preparation and dispatch. Working alongside experienced geologists and mining professionals, you'll gain hands-on exposure to the discovery, evaluation and extraction of ore that helps drive the future of the operation.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, detail-focused work, thrives in a team environment and is looking to build a long-term career in the mining industry. Whether you're already working in mining or looking to break into the industry, this position offers a unique opportunity to develop valuable technical skills within a supportive and inclusive team.

- Roster: 7/7, 12 hours per day (Dayshift only)

- Location:



Federation Mine, Nymagee NSW

Travel Arrangement

- DIDO (Drive-In, Drive-Out) from locations within an 800km radius of Federation Mine

- Travel allowance provided

- No FIFO option available

Key responsibilities

- Mark up drill core, including metre and orientation markings, accurately and consistently

- Collect and record geological data and complete required data entry

- Photograph and maintain accurate records of core trays

- Cut drill core and collect samples as directed by the supervising Geologist

- Manage drill core storage and retrieval to ensure samples and core are readily accessible

- Ensure timely and accurate sample dispatch to assay laboratories

Qualifications and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A current Australian C Class Driver's Licence

- Experience using computers, data entry systems or databases

- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

- The ability to work safely and effectively within a team environment

- The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance

Highly regarded but not essential

- Previous experience in geology, exploration, mining, laboratory, environmental or field-based roles

- Experience handling geological samples, drill core or logging data

- Forklift Licence

- First Aid qualifications





- Experience operating auger drills or similar equipment
