About the Role

ABC News Capricornia is looking for a talented and highly motivated journalist to join its dedicated team based in Rockhampton. Passionate about telling the stories of our region and willing to go the extra mile to ensure those stories are beautifully produced across multiple platforms.

Under routine direction of the Editor, ABC Capricornia, the successful applicant will be passionate about storytelling and content creation and gain valuable experience in delivering for broadcast, digital, social media and video platforms for the ABC.

Responsibilities

- Produce and present news bulletins, Q&As;, interviews and packages across all platforms,



including breaking stories.
- Write digital articles for the ABC News online, and create video content for broadcast, digital and social media platforms.
- Contribute to planning and commissioning processes to develop and distribute new content ideas to achieve strong reach and engagement with audiences.
- Identify and develop, in collaboration with colleagues, local content that can be shared with other content teams across the ABC on multiple platforms.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in creating content for multiple platforms.
- Proficient editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise reliable judgement.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues that affect and interest the local audience.
- A current and valid Driver's Licence.
