Your recent role
As a Parks & Recreation Labourer, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of community-use areas including parks, sportsgrounds, open spaces and cemeteries. This hands-on outdoor role will see you undertaking a variety of horticultural and maintenance duties while working within a supportive team environment.
Your duties will include:
- General grounds maintenance and gardening activities
- Mowing, whipper snipping and blowing
- Spraying and irrigation maintenance
- Graffiti removal and upkeep of community facilities
- Operating and maintaining plant and equipment
- Using hand tools, power tools, chainsaws and pole saws
- Reporting maintenance requirements and site damage
- Assisting with a range of parks and recreation maintenance projects as required
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 12 months' experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, landscaping or a similar role
- Experience operating plant and equipment relevant to parks maintenance
- Blue/White Construction Card
- Current C Class Driver's Licence
- Knowledge of general maintenance and basic mechanical repairs
- Ability to work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and commitment to quality work
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Horticulture, chemical handling or plant operation certifications highly regarded
- LR Licence desirable
