This is more than a maintenance role. It's an opportunity to work on MTU diesel engine systems and Sauer compressor systems that help sustain Australia's Defence maritime capability, while building specialist technical expertise within the Marine Defence sector.

About the Role

As a Diesel Technician within our Marine Defence team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, repair, overhaul, and testing of MTU engine systems and Sauer compressor systems supporting Defence maritime platforms.

Working closely with experienced technical personnel, your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting maintenance, repairs, and overhaul activities on diesel engine systems.
- Performing fault diagnosis and technical troubleshooting.
- Completing compressor servicing and overhaul activities.
- Supporting commissioning, testing, and operational readiness activities.
- Interpreting technical manuals, drawings, and specifications.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the highest quality standards.

This role provides exposure to complex mechanical systems and is ideal for a technician who enjoys problem-solving, precision work, and technical challenges.

About You

You are an experienced tradesperson who takes pride in delivering quality work and enjoys finding solutions to complex mechanical problems.

You will ideally have:

- A Diesel, Heavy Vehicle, Mobile Plant, Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent trade qualification.
- Experience in diesel engine maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and fault finding.
- Experience conducting engine overhauls and major mechanical repairs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

The following will be highly regarded but are not essential:

- Experience with MTU engines.
- Experience with Sauer compressors or similar compressor systems.
- Previous Defence, maritime, power generation, mining, industrial, or heavy diesel experience.
- Exposure to commissioning and testing activities.
