Help Shape Visitor Experiences Across South East Queensland's Parks and Forests

Are you passionate about balancing visitor access, recreation, conservation, and exceptional customer service? Do you thrive in a role where no two days are the same and where your work contributes directly to the sustainable management of some of South East Queensland's most valued natural areas?

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised team member to join our dynamic Visitor Assessments Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in assessing and supporting recreation, ecotourism, and organised event activities across parks and forests throughout the South East Queensland (SEQ) Region.

The position is required to interpret and work with relevant legislation, departmental policies, and work closely with regional work units (rangers), central office work units and external stakeholders and clients. Experience in protected area management and/or recreation management and assessing potential impacts of visitor activities on the natural, cultural and social values of parks and forests will also be well regarded. This position will participate in a multi-disciplinary team to develop, implement, and continuously improve strategies and systems for tourism and visitor management in protected areas and State forests.

As part of a committed and collaborative team, you will help ensure that commercial and non-commercial activities are appropriately assessed, managed, and supported through permits and authorities that enable visitors to enjoy Queensland's outstanding natural landscapes while protecting environmental values for future generations.

About you

We're looking for individuals who are passionate about conservation, land management and working collaboratively to achieve positive environmental and community outcomes.

You are someone who thrives in a rapid-paced environment, can effectively manage competing priorities and consistently delivers work of a high standard. You bring strong customer service skills,

sound judgement and the ability to analyse information to support informed decision-making.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to interpret legislation, policy and procedural requirements.
- Experience preparing professional reports, recommendations and correspondence.
- The ability to build productive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- A demonstrated capacity to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Experience in protected area management, recreation management, tourism management, environmental management or related fields will be highly regarded. Knowledge of assessing visitor impacts on natural, cultural and social values within parks and forests will also be viewed favourably.

As part of our commitment to inclusivity and respect, you will actively contribute to a workplace culture that supports First Nations peoples and helps deliver positive outcomes through meaningful engagement and partnership.

What's in it for you?

You'll be part of a team dedicated to creating sustainable visitor experiences while protecting the environmental, cultural and social values of Queensland's parks and forests. Our people are passionate, collaborative and driven by a shared commitment to conservation and public service. We value diversity of thought, experience and background because we know different perspectives make us stronger.

If you're looking for a role where you can apply your skills, contribute to strategic outcomes and make a lasting impact on Queensland's protected areas, we'd love to hear from you. We encourage you to find out more about this role by contacting the contact officer and further information can be located in the role description.
