SENIOR ARCHITECT
JOONDALUP LOCATION
CONTRACT UNTIL JUNE 2027
$69.15 PER HOUR
KEY OBJECTIVES
- Design architectural concept and working drawings for building construction and refurbishment projects.
- Undertake project management and contract management responsibilities.
- Provide high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Promote a safe work environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure all work is undertaken to a high standard in accordance with Company strategies, plans, protocols, ISO 9001, procedures and adopted practices, budgets and relevant legislation.
- Timely and accurate delivery of assigned work and projects within allocated budget. Project work is undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Project Management Framework.
- Financial and contract management activities are undertaken in accordance with procedures and processes.
- Community consultation is compliant with the Company's Community Consultation and Engagement policy, procedures and timeframes.
- Prompt and accurate capture of corporate information and documentation in accordance with the record keeping system and associated policies, protocols and practices.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
Architectural Development and Design
- Prepare architectural concept design drawings, draft working drawings (using AutoCAD) and write technical specification documentation.
- Review designs and ensure all designs and working drawings meet statutory requirements for building approval and construction standards.
- Ensure all technical specification documentation meets statutory building and development approvals.
- Research current best practice and trends for the design, construction and maintenance of facilities including assessments of construction methods for 'whole of life cost' for such facilities.
- Convert historical hard copy plans to AutoCAD/Electronic format as necessary to ensure all building plans are clearly indexed and readily accessible.
- Maintain current plans in AutoCAD/Electronic format to ensure all building plans are clearly indexed and readily accessible.
- Ensure the drawing register is up to date.
- Comply with the Company's processes, work practices and documentation to support maintaining Quality Management System and ISO 9001 certification.
- Display attitudes and behaviours that support a culture of continuous improvement across the Infrastructure Services Directorate.
Project Management
- Develop project plans for each project including scoping, establishment of deliverables and objectives, budget, project schedule, communication plan and risk management.
- Undertake project monitoring and prepare relevant project reporting documentation.
- Oversee projects in accordance with agreed scope, timeframes and budgets.
- Monitor and review expenditure to ensure conformity with budget outcomes.
- Monitor progress of works and provide assessment of completed works.
Contract Management
- Prepare tender documentation for consultants and contractors.
- Participate as a panel member for evaluation of tenders.
- Arrange quotes for works to be undertaken by consultants and contractors.
- Assess quotes against requirements and make appropriate recommendations.
Customer Service
- Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Resolve complaints and provide technical information and advice to internal and external stakeholders on relevant matters.
- Liaise employees and contractors to ensure a coordinated approach.
Essential Skills, Knowledge,
Experience and Qualifications:
Highly Developed Skills:
- Architectural design and drafting.
- AutoCAD (current version).
- Written and verbal communication, including technical specification writing.
- Influencing and interpersonal skills to positively manage stakeholders, resolve issues and negotiate contracts.
- Professionalism and customer service.
- Ability to resolve complex design challenges.
- Well-developed computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Organisational and time management.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Comprehensive Knowledge:
- Corporate document management principles and practices.
- Building Asset and Facility Management principles.
- National Construction Code of Australia and related Australian standards and statutory requirements.
- Commercial design and construction practices and construction contract management.
- Well-developed architectural product knowledge.
- Facilities management, specifically preventative maintenance regimes to ensure designs developed are conducive to optimal building management/life cycle needs.
- WHS legislation. Demonstrated Experience:
- Working within a typical design/drafting environment.
- AutoCAD (current version).
- Managing site measures and site feature surveys and the analysis and interpretation of surveys for the purposes of preparing design documentation.
- Design, documentation and project management of current and refurbishment projects
Qualifications / Clearances:
- Degree in Architecture or Advanced Diploma in Architecture (Building Design) or equivalent.
- Diploma Project Management or equivalent experience.
- Diploma of Contract Management or equivalent experience.
- Current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
- Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card).
