About the Opportunity

Our client, Metro South Health, is seeking a Clinical Nurse – Primary Health Care to join the Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health in Inala.

This identified opportunity provides the chance to work within a specialised Primary Health Care setting supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and communities.

The Clinical Nurse provides advanced clinical expertise, problem-solving, planning and coordination in the management of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients with complex care needs.

Working autonomously as part of the broader healthcare team, the Clinical Nurse plays an important role in planning, managing and delivering high-quality, culturally responsive Primary Health Care.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide advanced nursing practice and clinical leadership within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander General Practice environment.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing comprehensive and direct clinical care in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia standards

- Applying advanced clinical knowledge and problem-solving skills to support patients with complex care needs

- Working within established clinical guidelines, protocols, procedures and systems

- Acting as a clinical and educational resource for colleagues

- Supporting evidence-based clinical practice and continuous improvement

- Integrating contemporary research, theoretical knowledge and clinical experience into patient care





- Providing professional and clinical leadership with integrity, transparency and accountability

- Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care

- Contributing to quality improvement, education and innovation within the service

Skills and Capabilities

Our client is seeking a Clinical Nurse who can demonstrate:

- Advanced clinical knowledge, skills and competence within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander General Practice or Primary Health Care setting

- Advanced clinical assessment and problem-solving capabilities

- Advanced knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and relevant clinical theory

- Strong understanding of relevant professional standards, clinical processes and systems

- Clinical leadership capability

- Effective delegation and communication skills

- Critical thinking and sound clinical judgement

- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

- Commitment to culturally safe, respectful and responsive healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
