SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our mission is to reduce work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses by ensuring workplaces comply with health and safety laws. About the role

The Right to Information Team is responsible for overseeing SafeWork NSW’s statutory responsibilities under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act). The GIPA Act establishes a proactive, more open approach to gaining access to government information in New South Wales.

The team operate in a high volume, fast paced and frontline structured environment, to facilitate the review and determination of applications made under the GIPA Act. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, well-established team, who are passionate about applying the relevant legislations and promoting open government.

Reporting to a Senior Coordinator, this role manages complex requests for information under the GIPA Act.

About You

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with excellent attention to detail.

- The ability to make and write, strong, and legally sound, autonomous decisions. In particular, the position holder will have in-depth experience applying the GIPA Act, or in-depth experience applying a similar legislation.
- Thrive in a high volume and time pressured setting, where competing priorities much be managed effectively.




- Aptitude to deliver to tight deadlines and be flexible and resilient in an environment of changing and competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to write decisions based on legislation, and to tailor communication messaging effectively to different audiences.
