CatholicCare Diocese of Broken Bay is seeking an Administrator for Catholic Volunteer Eucharistic Ministry to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of the Eucharistic to Catholic patients at Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital.

The Catholic Volunteer Eucharistic Ministry forms an important part of CatholicCare's Hospital Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care model. Working alongside Priest Chaplains, Pastoral Care Practitioners and dedicated volunteers, you will help ensure Catholic patients have access to the Eucharist and appropriate spiritual and pastoral support.

About The Role

As the Administrator for Catholic Volunteer Eucharistic Ministry, you will coordinate and support a dedicated team of volunteer Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) who are nominated by their Parish Priest and provide the Eucharistic to Catholic patients.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

- Coordinating the provision of the Eucharist to Catholic patients across Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital.
- Recruiting, supporting and coordinating volunteer Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion from local Catholic Parishes.
- Promoting the Eucharistic Ministry across local Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Broken Bay and Archdiocese of Sydney.
- Coordinating volunteer induction, training, formation and hospital accreditation requirements.




- Developing and maintaining volunteer rosters to ensure consistent weekday and weekend ministry coverage.
- Receiving Catholic patient lists from the hospital and coordinating visitation schedules for volunteers.
- Building strong and respectful relationships with Parish Priests, Parish Secretaries, volunteers, Priest Chaplains ,CatholicCare colleagues and hospital staff.
- Supporting the Catholic Pastoral Care Team at Royal North Shore Hospital and the CatholicCare Hospital Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care Team, contributing to team meetings, formation, retreats, in-service training and professional development.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential administrative records and correspondence.
- Ensuring ministry activities comply with hospital policies, procedures and chaplaincy requirements.

This role combines hands-on administration, volunteer coordination and community engagement with a genuine opportunity to contribute to the pastoral mission of the Catholic Church.

About You

Most importantly, you will be someone who lives and understands the Catholic faith and is committed to supporting the Church's mission of providing spiritual and pastoral care to people in need.

You Will Bring

- A strong understanding of the Catholic faith, teachings, traditions and structure of the Catholic Church at parish, diocesan and broader levels.
- Current accreditation as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC), or a genuine willingness to become accredited.




- Relevant experience or qualifications in Spirituality, Pastoral Care, Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), Theology or a related discipline.
- A 40-hour Introductory Course in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), equivalent qualification, or willingness to undertake and complete this training.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using computer-based systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to build respectful and collaborative relationships with volunteers, hospital staff, patients, clergy and colleagues.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team.
- A high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential, sensitive and personal information.
- A compassionate, respectful and professional approach to working with people who may be experiencing vulnerability, illness or significant life circumstances.
