The Finance Team provides a expert corporate and finance support services to the organisation and its managers.
About The Role In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the organisation's payroll and month-end financial processes, and providing day-to-day financial and administrative support across the business.
You will operates with a significant degree of independence, exercising sound judgement and acting as the first point of contact for finance and budget-related queries.
This is a part-time (3 days per week), maximum-term position covering a period of parental leave to 15 May 2027.
Responsibilities Include
Payroll
- Process payroll end-to-end for all staff, including new starters, terminations, leave, and adjustments
- Ensure payroll compliance with relevant awards, legislation, and organisational policy
- Lodge Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting in line with ATO requirements
- Manage Workcover, PLSL, Super and other statutory payroll-related compliance lodgements
- Respond to and resolve staff payroll queries
Month-End & Financial Processing
- Manage the month-end close process end-to-end, including journals, accruals, and reporting deadlines
- Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Process accounts payable, including invoice coding, approvals, and payment runs
- Present month-end outputs to the CFO for final review and sign-off
- Prepare and lodge Qaurterly reporting for BAS
Budget Support
- Assist the CFO with budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting tasks
- Act as the first point of contact for staff budget-related queries when the CFO is unavailable, escalating as needed
Systems & General Support
- Provide first-line support to staff experiencing login or access issues with organisational platforms
- Triage IT support requests to the external IT provider and follow up to ensure timely resolution
- Maintain a working understanding of the organisation's core systems to support effective triage and staff assistance
About You To be successful, you will have...
Essential
- Demonstrated experience managing payroll end-to-end, including STP and statutory compliance lodgements (Experience with Employment Hero Payroll preferred)
- Experience with month-end processes, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Experience with MYOB
- Sound understanding of accounts payable processes
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement with limited day-to-day supervision
- Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with staff at all levels
- Positive working knowledge of common IT systems/platforms sufficient to triage support issues effectively
- A current Working With Children Check (Blue Card) and National Police Check (or ability to obtain)
Desirable
- Relevant qualification in accounting (progression toward CA/CPA is preferred)
- Prior experience in a small-to-medium organisation supporting a CFO or senior finance leader
- Experience assisting with budget preparation or monitoring
