Assistant Operations Officer

Division: Revenue NSW

Employment Type: Various -1 x Ongoing role and 1x Temporary role (up to July 2027)

Grade: Clerk Grade 5/6

Salary: $102,936 - $113,579 + Superannuation

Location: Parramatta, Gosford, Maitland, Lithgow and Wollongong. Some travel may be required to engage with the team and our partners.

About the Team

Duties & Grants is part of the Taxes and Grants division within Revenue NSW. Taxes and Grants is responsible for customer interactions for all tax and grant products. We undertake assessments, revenue collection, enquiries, investigations and client education services. We administer grants and use our expertise to research, develop and implement programs to make it easier for our customers to comply.

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic team players who are eager to learn and have a focus on investigating, analysing and assessing complex transactions.

About the Role The primary purpose of this role is to administer complex legislation, research and analyse information, undertake compliance investigations, and provide quality customer service. This is an opportunity for you to be part of a diverse group utilising a broad range of skills from client contact, interpretation of legislation and high-level investigative and critical thinking skills while applying established policy and procedure.

Some of the other Key Responsibilities include:

- Administer state tax legislation, make assessments and decisions on complex matters and achieve key performance indicators
- Provide legislative and procedural advice to clients and client representatives to ensure they comply with state tax obligations
- Maintain comprehensive and up to date knowledge of legislation, policies,



procedures and business rules to ensure consistency and accuracy in administration of legislation
- Gather information and undertake research, analysis and compliance audits/investigations
- Case management and the preparation of detailed submissions and reports
- Contribute to innovation and the development and implementation of improved processes.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate experience in:

- Interpreting and administering state tax legislation as well as providing legislative procedural advice to taxpayers and their representatives on complex matters
- Researching and analysing information from multiple sources to undertake audit/investigation activities relating to state tax legislation
- Case management and the preparation of detailed correspondence, submissions and investigation reports
- Coaching and developing staff, offering guidance on technical, procedural, and business rules to ensure consistent and accurate legislative administration.
- Taking a positive and proactive attitude with a focus on time management and achieving business outcomes and key performance indicators.

Salary Grade 5/6, with the base salary for this role starting at $102,936 base plus superannuation
