About The Role And Team

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced corporate and investment funds lawyer to make their mark in our strong and growing Corporate team in Sydney.

Our Sydney team is part of our national Corporate &

- Commercial Section, with around 75 team members providing commercially focussed legal advice on all aspects of transactions, corporate law and regulation affecting public and private companies, retail and wholesale fund managers and management teams. Our expertise spans mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, commercial contracting, compliance (including regulatory, corporate governance and directors’ duties), intellectual property, privacy, and industry focus (including investment funds, sports and entertainment, and technology and digital economy).

The Successful Candidate Will Work With Highly Regarded Partners And Senior Lawyers, And Will Be Involved In Transactional, Regulatory And Advisory Work Including:




- acting for fund managers in structuring and establishing wholesale and retail investment funds;
- acting for fund managers and investors (including superannuation funds) on co-investments and joint venture arrangements;
- mergers and acquisitions (M&A;);
- equity capital markets (ECM) transactions;
- transactional and governance work for AFS licensees;
- shareholders’ and unitholders’ agreements; and
- regulatory, compliance and corporate governance advice.

About You You will ideally have the following skills and experience:

- between 4 - 8 years of post-admission experience;
- experience in corporate law (including M&A;) and funds management, ideally from a large or medium sized law firm, or a specialist corporate law practice;
- ECM experience will be highly regarded;
- strong legal drafting and analytical skills, with outstanding attention to detail;
- excellent written and communication skills;
- for candidates at the senior end, experience in mentoring, supervising and delegating to junior lawyers; and
- a strong desire to contribute to the growth and success of our corporate and commercial practice.
