About WAITTA

WAITTA is a non-partisan alliance of technology and digital industry organisations, professionals, and thought leaders who provide digital knowledge, technology, and services to the WA community.

Established in 1991 as an industry award program, WAITTA has grown into a key advocate for technology innovation in Western Australia.

We deliver two major recognition and talent development programs - the INCITE Awards and the Game Changer Awards - celebrating Western Australian excellence in technology innovation and engaging school-aged kids in STEM problem-solving, respectively. We also partner with Perth Children's Hospital Foundation on putt4dough, raising funds for world-class paediatric care.

Guided by honesty, integrity, commitment and respect, our mission is to promote WA's tech innovation talent through awards, events and recognition.

The chance

WAITTA is growing. As we build a strong, future-focused governance model, we're opening expressions of interest for Board Director roles across:

- Finance (Treasurer)
- Sponsorship - a single portfolio, backed by cross-board engagement and delivery support
- Marketing & Communications

We're advertising two open positions in this round, with scope to appoint additional Board Directors if the right candidates come forward.

This is a volunteer, hybrid position based in WA - a mix of in-person board meetings/events and work from home, for a two-year term. Directors contribute to strategic direction, governance and oversight of our award programs, partnerships and community initiatives:



attending monthly board meetings, participating in subcommittees, reviewing strategic and operational plans, shaping policy, guiding stakeholder relationships, and supporting fundraising and sponsorship activity.

You'll also act as an ambassador for WAITTA - representing us at industry events and building networks.

Think writing grant applications and sponsor proposals, project managing an event, shaping strategy - the role is what you make of it.

Recent experience on a WAITTA program committee is highly desirable. It's the best way for us to see your work in action, and for you to know exactly what you're signing up for.

What we're looking for

- Strategic governance and leadership experience, including board or senior advisory roles, and familiarity with not-for-profit or membership-based organisations
- Understanding of the technology sector, innovation ecosystems, or STEM education
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, including experience with industry partners, sponsors, community organisations, government or educational institutions
- Financial and risk oversight capabilities - reading budgets and reports, supporting sustainable funding strategies and sound risk management
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to represent WAITTA professionally in public forums
- Commitment to WAITTA's mission and values, with time to dedicate to board duties, events and preparation
- Beneficial but not essential: experience with awards programs, community initiatives, fundraising or advocacy, and knowledge of governance frameworks and basic legal responsibilities
