For more than 50 years, Taldumande Youth Services has helped young people across NSW find safety, stability and hope for the future.

We’re looking for a Case Worker to join our Youth Justice Casework Support Program in Parramatta and Western Sydney on a full-time, fixed-term basis, supporting young people to overcome barriers, build confidence, and create positive change.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, and working closely with the Parramatta Youth Justice Community Office (YJCO) team, the Case Worker will be responsible for:

- Delivering the Youth Justice Casework Support Program (YJ CSP) across Cumberland, Fairfield and Canterbury-Bankstown LGAs, providing practical support to help young people at risk of ongoing involvement in the criminal justice system to achieve positive change in their lives.
- Providing front line services to children and young people aged 10 - 17 years referred by YJ NSW who are being supervised by YJ NSW, young people who are transitioning from custody into the community, young people who have a Youth Justice Conference (YJC) referral and young people receiving Bail Support.
- Providing a range of culturally appropriate, holistic and practical supports for the young person and their families to address the underlying needs and issues that contribute to their offending.
- Ensuring timely referrals and support to access services and supports that meet the young person’s needs including financial support (Centrelink), accommodation, health services, re-engagement with school, vocational training, prosocial activities, cultural connection,



mentoring and brokerage.
- Undertaking case management activities in an efficient and professional manner.
- Collaborating with youth justice services, organisations, partner agencies and government departments.
- Working closely with schools, courts, police, detention centres and legal professionals, providing advice, briefings and reports.
- Working to influence change in the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children and young people in the youth justice system.

About You

- Have 2 to 3 years’ experience in youth work, youth justice, community services, casework or a related field.

- Experience supporting vulnerable young people with complex needs
- Communicate confidently with young people, parents, carers, extended family and support networks.
- Bring sound judgement, resilience and a calm, trauma-informed approach when supporting young people with complex needs.
- Understand the challenges faced by young people involved with, or at risk of involvement in, the youth justice system.

Essential Compliance Requirements

- Relevant completed tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent
- Current Paid Working with Children Check to be provided prior to appointment




- Undergo a National Police Clearance Check
- Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence and access to an insured vehicle
- Current First Aid Certificate and willingness to attend compulsory training
