Salary: NM12 - Grade NM4 $66.047 per hour

About the opportunity

The NUM will provide leadership and management and is responsible for all resources pertaining to people, equipment and ensuring that patient care is of a high quality standard. This is an exciting time to join the Perioperative Services at Werribee Mercy Hospital, in a newly restructured management model for both the operating and sterilizing departments. This key position will support surgery recovery and reform working collaboratively to deliver a quality service in line with industry standards. Relocating to Level 3 of the Catherine McAuley Building in August 2018, the Operating Theatre Complex is a bright and modern department which has 6 operating theatres and 12 Stage 1 Recovery bays. A fully electronic patient tracking system (T-DOC) which includes endoscopy services has been implemented across the perioperative services. The NUM will play a pivotal role in the delivery of services and work within ACORN, NSQHS,



AS5369 and GENCA Standards and Guidelines The NUM will foster a collaborative approach to all staff and stakeholders and will maintain a safe working environment conducive with the Mercy Mission and Values Lead the day-to-day running of the perioperative unit (theatre optimisation, staffing, patient experience) and develop the unit Coaching and developing your team so they grow Ensure quality, compliance and accreditation are promoted and achieved Ensure patient centred care and a high standard of quality patient outcomes FTE management Budgeting and consumable resource management

To thrive in this role, you will have:

Essential Criteria

- Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
- Relevant Post Graduate Perioperative Qualifications (or working towards)
- Extensive knowledge of ACORN, GENCA and AS5369 Standards and Regulations
- Post Graduate Degree (or working towards) in hospital or health services, administration (desirable)
- Minimum 2 years previous Nurse Unit Manager experience within the Perioperative Unit
- Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve
- A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management. The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Highly motivated individual, with previous management experience and a commitment to excellence





You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
