Rotating Equipment Commissioning Technician
Mechanical Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning | Major Oil & Gas Project The Opportunity:
Kent is seeking experienced Rotating Equipment Technicians to join our Mechanical Commissioning team on a major Oil & Gas project.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a qualified mechanical tradesperson with strong experience in pumps, compressors and rotating machinery to join a high-performing commissioning team on a major Oil & Gas project.
You will play a key role in ensuring critical rotating equipment is safely aligned, tested, commissioned and ready for successful start-up.
About you:
This is a major Oil & Gas project involving the pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of complex mechanical and electrical systems. Working alongside experienced Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Commissioning teams, you will be involved in the pre-commissioning and commissioning of pumps, compressors, air fans and associated rotating machinery across the plant.
Day to Day, your role will include:
- Performing pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on pumps, compressors, air fans and associated rotating equipment.
- Conducting cold and hot machinery alignment, pre and post-piping installation, in accordance with current standards
- Performing lube oil flushing and circulation, including oil sampling and cleanliness verification ahead of solo run.
- Executing no-load motor solo runs, recording bearing temperatures and vibration readings against acceptance criteria.
- Installing and aligning couplings post-solo run and supporting mechanical run testing (load run) for duty and standby equipment.
- Supporting performance testing of compressors, coordinating with OEM/vendor representatives.
- Conducting walkdowns and identifying punch list items by category, in line with the project punch list Matrix.
- Completing approved commissioning procedures and project checksheets (A, B and C)
accurately and in real time.
- Reading and interpreting P&IDs;, isometrics and vendor data books to support commissioning execution.
- Working closely with Electrical, Instrumentation and Construction teams to resolve commissioning issues.
