The Role

As Communications Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering Council's media, public relations and communications activities. Reporting to the Coordinator Communications and Engagement, you'll work across the organisation to create engaging content, support communication strategies and strengthen Council's reputation with the community, stakeholders and media.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll help bring projects, programs and events to life through compelling storytelling, strategic communications and proactive media engagement.

In this role, you will:

- Prepare media releases, speeches, newsletters, publications and other communication materials.
- Develop and deliver communication strategies and campaigns for Council projects, programs and events.
- Assist with media enquiries, including researching, drafting and coordinating responses.
- Create engaging content across a range of communication channels.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with journalists, media outlets and key stakeholders.
- Provide communications advice and support across the organisation.
- Exercise sound judgement when managing complex or sensitive issues.
- Deliver high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines,



both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Support and protect Council's brand, reputation and public image.

About You

You're a confident communicator with a flair for storytelling, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. You enjoy building relationships, working collaboratively and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Media, Communications or a related discipline, with at least three years' relevant experience.
- Experience preparing media releases, speeches, newsletters, media responses and other communication materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
- Experience developing communication plans, reports, correspondence and submissions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong organisational, research and problem-solving skills.
- A customer-focused approach and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
- Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to manage sensitive issues.
- A current NSW Driver Licence.




- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when required.

What We Offer

- Permanent full-time – 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $101,204.99 to $117,260.87 p.a., plus 12% superannuation.
