Geotechnical Engineer

Full-Time Position
Aus Geotech is a growing geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing consultancy based in Melbourne. We provide geotechnical investigation, engineering consultancy, field testing and NATA-accredited laboratory testing services across civil infrastructure, commercial and land development projects.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team.
The Role
This is a practical engineering position combining site-based geotechnical work with engineering assessment and reporting. You will work closely with our engineers, technicians, contractors and project teams across a range of civil construction projects.
Key responsibilities will include
- Undertaking geotechnical site inspections and assessments
- Interpretation of laboratory and field testing results
- Preparation of geotechnical and engineering reports
- Providing earthworks, excavation, pavement and foundation recommendations and supervision.
- Reviewing construction drawings, specifications and geotechnical information
- Providing practical geotechnical advice during construction
- Assessing subgrade conditions, proof rolling and earthworks compliance
- Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants and project personnel
- Assisting with preparation of proposals, technical correspondence and project documentation
- Supporting our NATA-accredited construction materials testing operations where required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is technically capable, practical and comfortable working both onsite and in the office.
Ideally, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in geotechnical engineering, civil construction or a related field
- Good understanding of soil mechanics, earthworks and foundation engineering
- Ability to interpret geotechnical reports, borehole logs, civil drawings and specifications
- Strong technical report-writing and communication skills
- Ability to communicate confidently with contractors and clients
- Valuable organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
- A practical approach to solving construction-related geotechnical issues
- Australian driver’s licence
- Full Australian working rights
Experience with Victorian civil infrastructure projects, pavement construction, earthworks, working platforms and construction materials testing will be highly regarded.
