Liberator Australia is excited to announce an opening for a Senior AAC Consultant – Adult Neurological Specialisation to join our Consultant team (up to 1.0 FTE available) and bring deep expertise in AAC and communication support for adults with progressive neurological conditions. This is both a customer-facing Consultant role and an internal specialist resource, providing direct consultation support and elevating the capability of Liberator's broader Consultant team through mentoring, training, and knowledge-sharing. This is a remote role, and we welcome applicants from Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or any other Australian location.

Role and Responsibilities:
Customer-Facing Clinical Work
- Provide specialist AAC consultation for adults with MND, other progressive neurological conditions, acquired brain injury, and other complex adult neurological presentations
- Lead complex device feature matching, trial and post-trial support for adult neurological clients, in partnership with external managing Speech Pathologists
- Provide support and guidance for managing Speech Pathologists completing NDIS AT funding applications for adult neurological clients,
including review of reports and clinical justifications
- Provide input on access solutions, AAC system design, and communication supports tailored to the trajectory of progressive conditions
- Engage directly with customers, families, carers, and interdisciplinary teams as a trusted specialist resource
Internal Team Support & Capacity Building
- Act as the go-to clinical specialist for the Liberator Australia Consultant team on all adult neurological presentations - available for case consultation, peer support, and clinical guidance
- Develop and deliver structured internal training to upskill Consultants on adult neurological AAC: condition-specific considerations, proactive AAC planning, device and access solutions
- Mentor Consultants through complex adult neurological cases, modelling clinical reasoning and supporting confidence in this space
- Contribute to the development of internal resources, clinical frameworks, and protocols for adult neurological support
- Collaborate with Product Owners and leadership to provide clinical feedback relevant to adult neurological product strategy
Professional Leadership
- Represent Liberator's adult neurological expertise externally - at conferences, professional events, and through engagement with key clinical networks
- Contribute to professional development activities to maintain and grow specialist knowledge
- Identify opportunities to expand Liberator's presence and impact in the adult neurological space
Ideal Candidate: Our ideal candidate will meet some or all of the following criteria:
- Demonstrated specialist expertise in AAC with adults with neurological conditions, particularly MND and other progressive conditions
- Strong understanding of proactive AAC planning and the communication needs across the trajectory of adult neurological conditions
- Experience with a range of AAC systems, access solutions, and alternative access methods relevant to adult neurological presentations
- Excellent clinical reasoning and the ability to synthesise complex presentations into practical, person-centred solutions
- Experience mentoring, training, or upskilling other clinicians or professionals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, clinicians, and internal teams
- Ability to work autonomously
