Are you an experienced hospitality professional with a strong background in pub or tavern operations, team leadership and hands-on shift management? This Assistant Venue Manager chance in Outback Queensland is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the floor, leading by example and working closely with a Venue Manager to keep a busy, multi-faceted operation running smoothly.
As the Venue Manager's right-hand support, you'll play an important role across the bar, bistro, gaming, accommodation and bottleshop, helping to lead the team, oversee daily operations and ensure consistently high standards of service. It's a varied position suited to someone who is confident taking responsibility, enjoys a hands-on approach and is ready to step up when required.
The Role
Working alongside the Venue Manager, you'll help coordinate the day-to-day operation of the venue and provide strong support across all areas of the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Venue Manager with daily venue operations
- Taking responsibility for shifts and providing hands-on leadership
- Working across bar, bistro, gaming and bottleshop operations as required
- Supervising, motivating and supporting the front-of-house team
- Assisting with cash handling, reconciliations and shift reporting
- Supporting stock control, ordering and rostering
- Maintaining high standards of customer service and venue presentation
- Assisting with liquor, gaming and WHS compliance
- Helping resolve day-to-day operational issues
- Assisting with general administration and operational duties
- Supporting the Venue Manager with staff performance and team development
- Stepping into additional responsibility when the Venue Manager is rostered off or when required
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a capable and energetic hospitality qualified who has the experience and confidence to support a busy venue operation.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a supervisory, duty management or assistant management role
- Strong pub or tavern experience
- Good knowledge of bar and food & beverage operations
- Gaming experience, highly regarded
- Proven ability to lead and support a hospitality team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A confident, hands-on approach to hospitality
- The ability to work independently while supporting the Venue Manager and wider team
- A reliable and professional approach to your work
- Current CLO, RSA, RSG, RMLV and Approved Manager's Licence
- Ability to provide a National Police Clearance if required
