Troocoo Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse for a contract opportunity within the Mental Health Acute Care Team based in Mackay.

The Chance As a Clinical Nurse within the Acute Care Team, you will play a key role in providing assessment, triage, crisis intervention and case management support for consumers accessing acute mental health services.

The Acute Care Team operates as a critical entry point into public mental health services and provides assessment, referral and support to individuals experiencing acute mental health presentations.

This role requires clinicians who are confident working autonomously, conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and managing complex presentations within a community-based acute care environment.

Position: Clinical Nurse (Grade 6)
Service: Mental Health Acute Care Team (ACT)
Location: Mackay
Contract Dates: 14 September 2026 - 18 October 2026
Hours: Maximum 80 hours per fortnight

Essential Experience To be considered for this opportunity, you must demonstrate:

✅ Mental Health Case Management experience
✅ Mental Health Triage experience
✅ Acute Mental Health or Crisis Care experience
✅ Ability to complete ECGs
✅ Experience administering Intramuscular (IM) medications
✅ Strong risk assessment and clinical decision-making skills




✅ Current AHPRA Registration

Highly Desirable Experience Experience with the following will be highly regarded:

- CIMHA
- ieMR
- Australian Mental Health Services
- Community Mental Health
- Crisis Assessment and Intervention
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2016
- Previous regional or rural mental health experience
