Broken Creek

The Story
If you are looking for a change from large-scale or Corporate farming operations to a smaller, diverse modern farming business, where you can work directly alongside highly experienced business owners, this opportunity is built for you.

Located on the banks of the Broken Creek, just north of Benalla toward Goorambat, this impressive family-owned enterprise packs high-precision technology into a highly intensive 1,000-hectare footprint. The owners are a welcoming family who want to maintain and grow their enterprise while stepping back from daily tasks.

They are looking for an experienced broad-acre professional who will integrate into their family farm and constructively improve existing systems. For the right person, this role will transition into complete day-to-day autonomy and overall farm management, giving the owners the flexibility to spend extended periods off the property while providing you with true leadership and career security.

The Operation
Spanning across 1,000 hectares of highly productive Broken Creek country, this operation includes an intensive dry land cropping program, irrigated crops, lucerne hay, pasture hay and occasional contracting.

This is a modern, high-precision farming setup featuring Fendt tractors, Class headers, Hardi sprayer section controlled, Ag Leader GPS precision systems and modern hay equipment.

Adding to the enterprise's diversity, the family also owns a small, picturesque cattle property at Myrrhee, near the King Valley.

This provides a fantastic change of pace for cropping operators who appreciate the chance to step away from the tractor and assist with cattle management, feeding stock and managing pastures in a stunning environment.

The Role
Working directly alongside the owners, you will transition into having complete day-to-day operational autonomy to run the farm, while collaborating with the Agronomist and existing farm team. Using late model Fendt, Class and Hardi equipment, you will drive the seasonal cropping program, manage flood irrigation schedules, execute precision chemical spraying, fertiliser spreading, hay production, grain management, machinery maintenance and record keeping.

Beyond managing daily operations, driving crop performance and keeping machinery in top-notch order, you will also assist in cattle operations and pasture management at the Myrrhee property.

The Ideal Candidate
We are searching for a broad-acre cropping skilled who brings high energy, an intuitive mindset and a collaborative, approachable style. While a background in cattle is not required, an interest in cattle and pasture management will fit right in. We need a positive, clear-thinking leader who is willing to work hard, constructively improve operations, and, importantly, enjoy the journey of working in a generational family business.

Essential attributes include:

- Proven broad-acre cropping, spraying, and flood irrigation experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle basic farm repairs, machinery maintenance, and Precision Ag setups.
- Self-motivated, forward-thinking mindset with the drive to continuously improve farm performance, upgrade, and expand operations where needed.
- Excellent communication skills, a positive and relaxed attitude, and a natural ability to work alongside staff and owners alike.
- Current driver’s license (HC/MC license preferred), Chemical User’s certificate, and White Card.

The Offer
Our client offers an exceptionally attractive overall remuneration package tailored to your experience, complete with genuine growth opportunities as you progress into overall farm management. Inclusions include a work vehicle, on-farm utilities, and a renovated three-bedroom brick home featuring a modern kitchen, fresh paint, and a fully fenced yard. Situated in a picturesque location between Benalla and Goorambat, the role offers an unbeatable lifestyle with a local primary school, Benalla school bus access at the gate, and nearby sporting clubs. Close proximity to Benalla, Shepparton, Wangaratta and Melbourne, just 2.5 hours away.

Interested?
To take the next step in your agricultural career, please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your broad-acre cropping and machinery background. For a confidential conversation, please call John Booth on 0428 245 261.
