The Commission leads and coordinates national improvements in healthcare safety and quality. It works in partnership with patients, carers, clinicians, the Australian, state and territory health systems, the private sector, managers and healthcare organisations to achieve a safe, high-quality and sustainable health system.

The Measurement of Improvement (MFI) Program is responsible for a range of projects to support the meaningful use of indicators, analysis and data, including clinical quality registries and clinical trials. These projects aim to support the feedback of safety and quality data to multiple levels of the health system including consumers, clinicians, administrators and funders. This work also supports the Commission’s national health information role and commitments under the National Health Reform Act 2011, and the National Health Reform and Information Agreements.

You will be a health policy, evaluation and evidence synthesis specialist:

- capable of independently conducting literature reviews and environmental scans
- critically evaluating Australian and international evidence
- consulting with stakeholders and subject matter experts
- synthesising qualitative and quantitative findings
- producing high-quality policy advice and recommendations regarding national safety and quality measurement frameworks.

Duties of the EL1 Senior Project Officer, Measurement for Improvement role will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Lead and undertake qualitative research and evidence synthesis, including literature reviews, environmental scans, stakeholder interviews and survey design,



qualitative coding and thematic analysis, translating finding into evidence-informed recommendations
2. Design stakeholder consultation approaches, including surveys and questionnaires, and undertake qualitative analysis of findings to inform policy, evaluation and measurement development activities
3. Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, advisory group papers, correspondence, presentations and other documents for a range of audiences on complex healthcare issues
4. Undertake the complete range of project management activities including procurement and contract management activities to achieve the objectives of the work plan
5. Participate in, and present to, committee meetings, forums and workshops
6. Provide secretariat and project support for committees and expert groups where required
7. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver work programs and achieve the Commission's strategic objectives
8. Undertake other duties as required and directed

The successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex literature reviews, environmental scans or evidence synthesis and translating findings into policy advice, recommendations or decision-making products




- Demonstrated understanding of the Australian healthcare system and a sophisticated understanding of the key elements of healthcare safety and quality.
- Excellent written communication skills, including capacity to articulate complex concepts and policy issues in a coherent, accessible way.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to develop productive working relationships with a wide range of individuals and interest groups.
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan and deliver complex evidence review and policy analyses and manage competing priorities and stakeholder requirements
