About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Electrical Engineer to join our project delivery team at the Maryvale Solar Farm near Dubbo on an 8 month fixed term contract. This is a key role where you will supervise and manage all electrical engineering activities on site throughout the construction and commissioning phases of the project. This role ensures compliance with design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines, while coordinating with contractors, design engineers, Owner’s Engineers, and the contractor commissioning team to achieve a successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee electrical construction activities and ensure all electrical works comply with local electrical codes, regulations, and international standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, AS).
- Review and verify EPC contractor ITPs, inspection records, test packs, NCRs, RFIs, and quality dossiers and witness owners witness point as required under EPC contract.
- Monitor EPC contractor and subcontractor electrical construction performance and escalate non-compliance quality issues, safety concerns and schedule risks through the appropriate channels.
- Oversee the integration of electrical systems, including PV Arrays, BESS, and grid interconnection, ensuring proper execution.
- Coordinate and support the testing and commissioning of electrical systems (inverters, transformers, switchboards, BESS, protection systems etc).
- Review and monitor energization plans, switching programs, isolation/LOTO arrangements, PTW requirements and electrical access control.
- Support commissioning, energization and grid connection activities, including coordination with AEMO, EPC contractor, NSP and owners grid team and engineers as applicable.
- Resolve technical issues and defects and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Support claims assessments, audits, reporting and project stage gate approvals.
- Champion Gentari’s safety, environmental and quality standards
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent)
- 7+ years' site-based electrical engineering experience
- At least 3 years' experience on utility scale renewable energy, power generation, or HV /MV transmission / distribution projects
- Strong knowledge of transformers, switchgear, HV/MV/LV systems, protection systems, BESS, PV and grid interconnection.
- Experience with electrical-civil interfaces such as earthing, trenching, conduits, bunding.
- Sound understanding of HSE practices and practices and quality management systems.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management capability.
- Very organised with a keen eye for detail and strong ability to prioritise and multitask. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Full-time site-based availability and Australian work rights required.
