Metal is looking for an exceptional Executive Assistant to support our co-founder and CEO.
This is a high-trust role combining traditional executive and personal assistance with exposure to the broader work of building a fast-growing technology company. A significant part of the role will involve managing CEO’s schedule, travel, communications and day-to-day logistics. Over time, the right person will also have opportunities to take ownership of projects across the business.
You will need to be highly resourceful, adaptable and dependable, with excellent judgment and absolute discretion. You should enjoy bringing order to a busy schedule, anticipating needs and solving problems before they become distractions.
For the right person, the role has the potential to grow into a Chief of Staff position in Australia. It would be particularly well suited to someone who wants a front-row seat to the decisions, challenges and opportunities involved in building a company from the ground up.
What you’ll do
- Manage a busy and frequently changing calendar, including meetings, appointments and competing priorities
- Organise complex domestic and international travel, including flights, accommodation, visas, itineraries and ground transport
- Coordinate personal appointments, reservations and other day-to-day logistics when required
- Manage expenses, receipts, reimbursements and related administration
- Manage and prioritise emails
- Monitor communications, prepare correspondence and ensure important matters receive timely responses
- Prepare the CEO for meetings and track decisions, commitments and follow-up actions
- Coordinate with employees, investors, partners, advisers and other stakeholders
- Anticipate scheduling conflicts, logistical issues and other problems, and resolve them independently
- Handle confidential business and personal information with complete discretion
- Support special projects across operations, hiring, partnerships and company building
- Travel with the CEO when required
What we’re looking for
- Exceptionally organised, with solid attention to detail
- Resourceful and able to solve unfamiliar problems without a playbook
- Adaptable and calm when plans change at short notice
- Trustworthy, responsible and highly discreet
- Proactive and good at anticipating what will be needed
- Positive, collaborative and willing to pitch in wherever needed, with the ability to work well with people at every level of the company
- Comfortable taking ownership and following matters through to completion
- An excellent written and verbal communicator
- Able to exercise sound judgment and prioritise effectively
- Willing and able to travel frequently, sometimes at short notice
- Interested in startups, technology and learning how companies are built
Previous experience as an Executive Assistant,
Personal Assistant, operations professional, consultant or project manager would be helpful. However, we care most about judgment, ownership, learning speed and reliability.
Why join
Metal is building an ambitious technology company across Melbourne and San Francisco, with the pace, backing and global aspirations of a leading Silicon Valley startup. Our mission is to help reshape how money moves around the world, and we are assembling an exceptional team to pursue it.
This is a rare opportunity to join at an early and formative stage while the company is growing rapidly. Working directly with the CEO, you will gain a front-row seat to fundraising, strategy, recruitment, partnerships, operations and the day-to-day realities of building a global company. As you build trust and demonstrate your capabilities, there will be scope to take on broader responsibilities and potentially grow into a Chief of Staff role in Australia.
Location: Melbourne preferred; candidates based elsewhere in APAC will also be considered, provided they can travel internationally with minimal visa restrictions.
Compensation: AUD 10,000 per month.
Travel: Frequent domestic and international travel required.
Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, accompanied by a brief cover letter highlighting their relevant experience and motivation for the role, to: http://tinyurl.com/loongexecasst
We appreciate the interest of all applicants. However, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
