Partale Talent is proud to be partnering with a dynamic and leading non-bank lender and multi-channel distribution business operating across Australia and New Zealand. They enable homeowners and businesses to achieve their goals by providing innovative, fast and accessible lending solutions to homeowners, consumers and businesses.

With a strong multi-brand presence, they service a large and growing customer base, manage a multi-billion-dollar loan book, and have a fast-growing workforce operating across ANZ.

About the role

Our client is seeking a decisive, forward-thinking and hands-on Financial Crime Specialist to strengthen and evolve their financial crime capability. This is a rare chance for an experienced financial crime practitioner or an investigator with a law enforcement background to own the space and make it their own.

You will combine deep AML/CTF, fraud and scams expertise with a genuine investigative mindset, getting into the detail of systems, processes and customer journeys to identify vulnerabilities before criminals do. Reporting to the COO and working closely with Risk, Audit, Compliance, Operations, Technology and business leaders, you'll shape financial crime strategy, strengthen controls and keep the organisation ahead of an ever-evolving threat landscape.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as a trusted adviser on financial crime translating risks into practical, operationally effective controls.
- Conduct detailed investigations into suspected fraud, scams, identity theft, synthetic identities, mule accounts, money laundering and other financial crime matters.
- Review lending processes, customer journeys and operational workflows to identify weaknesses that could be exploited, and stress-test controls by thinking like a criminal actor.
- Maintain a forward-looking view of emerging financial crime typologies, criminal methodologies and industry developments,

identifying attack pathways before incidents occur.
- Lead financial crime risk assessments across products, channels and customer segments, and act as an escalation point for significant financial crime issues.
- Partner with Technology and Data teams to champion AI, automation and advanced analytics that strengthen fraud detection and monitoring capabilities.
- Lead and contribute to initiatives that uplift crime capability, driving remediation programs and regulatory commitments through to sustainable resolution.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit and Operations to maintain a strong control environment and prepare insights and recommendations for executive and governance forums.

About you
- Minimum 5 years' experience in financial crime, fraud investigations, AML/CTF, scam prevention, intelligence, risk or a related discipline within financial services, lending, law enforcement or intelligence environments.
- A naturally curious, investigative mindset with a strong operational focus and genuine enjoyment of working in the detail.
- Demonstrated experience investigating complex fraud or financial crime matters and identifying weaknesses in systems, processes and controls.
- Strong pattern recognition, critical thinking and the ability to assess risks and controls from the perspective of a fraudster or criminal actor.
- A confident communicator who can engage effectively across all levels of the organisation, and a self-starter comfortable operating independently in ambiguity.
- ·Degree qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Law, Risk Management, Accounting or a related discipline, with professional certification in AML/CTF, Financial Crime, Fraud, Compliance or Risk Management highly regarded.
