Graduate Sales Engineer

Dandenong South | Full Time

Engineering degree? Good with people? This could be for you.

At No Bolt, we design and manufacture specialised access equipment and engineered solutions for some seriously interesting industries.

Our equipment is used across commercial aviation, helicopters, defence, rail, mining and major industrial operations.

One day the challenge might involve accessing an aircraft for maintenance. Another might involve equipment supporting defence vehicle production. The next could be solving an awkward access problem in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.

We’re looking for a Graduate Sales Engineer who wants to be involved in all of it.

This role sits at the intersection of:

Engineering + Customers + Sales + Projects + Manufacturing

If you enjoy engineering but don't necessarily want to spend your entire career sitting behind a CAD screen, we’d like to talk to you.

The Opportunity

This is a graduate development role with a structured pathway towards becoming a Sales Engineer.

Working alongside our experienced Sales and Engineering team, you’ll learn how to take a customer requirement from:

“We have a problem…”

through technical development, costing and proposal,

to:

“Here’s the solution.”

You’ll get exposure to the complete project lifecycle — from initial enquiry and concept development through to engineering, manufacture and delivery.

And importantly, you’ll see the things you help develop actually being built on our factory floor.

What You’ll Be Doing

As your experience develops, you’ll be involved in:

- Talking with customers and understanding what they actually need
- Helping develop practical engineering solutions
- Preparing quotations and technical proposals
- Assisting with concepts, layouts and presentations
- Supporting tenders and major project opportunities
- Working with Engineering and Production to deliver projects
- Coordinating customer and project requirements
- Attending client meetings and technical discussions
- Conducting equipment inspections

- Following projects from enquiry through to manufacture and delivery
- Learning how engineering decisions affect cost and manufacturability
- Following up opportunities and developing customer relationships

You won't be expected to know everything on day one. The objective is to progressively develop your technical, commercial and client-facing capability.

The Industries Are Pretty Interesting Too

✈️ Commercial Aviation

Engineered access and ground support equipment used around commercial aircraft.

? Helicopters

Specialised maintenance and access solutions for rotary-wing aircraft.

?️ Defence

Equipment supporting defence manufacturing, maintenance and sustainment programs.

? Rail & Transport

Access and maintenance solutions for large transport assets.

? Advanced Manufacturing & Industry

Solving unusual access, maintenance and production challenges where an off-the-shelf solution simply doesn't work.

These are real engineering problems in real operating environments.

Who Are We Looking For?

You'll have a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification.

But we're interested in more than your degree.

We're looking for someone who is:

- Mechanically minded
- A practical problem solver
- Confident communicating with people
- Curious and willing to ask questions
- Commercially aware or interested in learning
- Organised and reliable
- Comfortable explaining technical ideas
- Interested in how things are actually made
- Keen to work with customers
- Ready to take on more responsibility as their capability develops

You do NOT need to be an experienced salesperson. In fact,

we're happy to teach you technical sales.

We're looking for someone with the potential to become good at both sides of the job:

understanding the engineering problem and communicating the solution.

Experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, university teams or other people-facing roles can be just as interesting to us as traditional engineering work experience.

Practical, But Not Essential

Exposure to any of the following would be an advantage:

- SketchUp or CAD
- Technical drawings
- Manufacturing or fabrication
- Formula SAE or similar university projects
- Aviation
- Defence
- Automotive
- Project coordination
- Customer service
- Sales

Learn the Commercial Side of Engineering A technically brilliant solution that costs three times the customer's budget isn't necessarily a brilliant solution. We'll teach you to think about questions such as:

What does the customer actually need?

What is the simplest effective solution?

Can we manufacture it efficiently?

What will it cost?

What standards and risks need to be considered?

How do we explain the solution to the customer?

And ultimately

Will the customer buy it?

That's what Sales Engineering is about.

Where Can It Lead?

Our objective is to develop you into a capable Sales Engineer who can independently work with customers, develop solutions and manage technical sales opportunities.

You'll progressively build experience across:

Engineering → Customers → Sales → Projects → Commercial Management

This isn't a graduate program where you disappear into a large organisation.

You'll work directly with experienced people, be exposed to real projects and see the impact of your work.

Interested?

Send us your CV.

We'd also like you to answer one question:

Why do you think you'd be good at technical sales?

Your answer interests us at least as much as your university transcript.

If you're an engineer who enjoys people, problem solving and seeing ideas become real things, we'd like to hear from you.
