The Opportunity The Grampians Recovery Project - Senior Recovery Project Officer delivers and coordinates environmental, cultural and infrastructure recovery activities following significant disturbance events across the Grampians region. The role works in partnership with Traditional Owners,
Registered Aboriginal Parties and other key stakeholders to ensure Aboriginal Cultural Heritage protection is embedded into recovery planning and delivery. In this role, you'll provide expert advice on Aboriginal Cultural Heritage identification, assessment and protection, support compliance with the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, coordinate stakeholders and contribute to project reporting and governance. You'll work closely with Traditional Owner organisations, Parks Victoria staff and external agencies to deliver culturally informed recovery outcomes that benefit Traditional Owners, local communities and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate recovery programs that align with Parks Victoria's strategic and environmental recovery priorities.
- Provide technical expertise to support Aboriginal Cultural Heritage protection and recovery initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with Traditional Owners, project partners and stakeholders.
- Provide advice and support to staff delivering priority recovery projects.
- Manage project reporting, governance requirements and resource planning activities.
- Promote cultural heritage protection, environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.
- Participate in emergency response and recovery activities when required.
About You You are a culturally aware project professional with strong experience in Aboriginal Cultural Heritage protection, environmental recovery or natural resource management. You build trusted relationships with stakeholders,
communicate effectively on complex matters and are passionate about delivering positive outcomes for Traditional Owners and communities.
You'll Bring
- Relevant qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, cultural heritage management or a related discipline.
- Detailed knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation, governance and policy frameworks in Victoria.
- Experience in project coordination, recovery programs or cultural heritage protection within government, conservation or land management environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience working with Traditional Owners and partner organisations.
- Excellent communication, reporting and relationship-building capabilities.
