About the Role The Head of Enterprise Risk provides leadership, vision, direction and structure to the Enterprise Risk team. In collaboration with the General Manager and Risk & Compliance leadership team, the role contributes to the development of the Risk & Compliance business plan. The role drives the execution of icare’s Strategic Priorities relating to: effectively implementing the risk management framework through robust risk advice and relationship management; enabling the business to identify, assess and manage risks in a consistent and systematic manner applying robust risk strategies. The role ensures icare is accountable to its Board, Chief Executive, external regulators, and stakeholders for its management of risk and its responses to issues requiring remediation.
This is a significant leadership role within icare that requires the ability to think and plan to a multi-year horizon, an understanding of risks in decision making, the influence of their behaviours on our people, and their lasting impacts on icare.
Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same. As Head of Enterprise Risk you will:
- Drive the effective implementation of the enterprise-wide risk management framework across the icare business, through provision of subject matter expertise in risk management, engagement with Line 1 Risk,
and oversight and reporting over the risk across the whole of icare.
- Lead the enterprise risk maturity program, assessing organisational risk capability and maturity to inform, prioritise and drive strategic risk uplift initiatives.
- Provide quality control oversight over the risk and control environment, focusing on SME oversight, through risk profile reviews for all of icare and targeted control uplift initiatives.
- Lead the management of roles in the team to ensure cross-skilling into each SME area and business unit area at any time, at the discretion of the GM Risk & Compliance.
- Collaborate with Line 1 Risk teams to support fair and timely risk outcomes, and provide business risk insights directly to its leadership, Group Executive Team, and the Community of Practice.
Skills & Experience
- Enterprise risk leader with strong governance expertise
- Proven success influencing executives and senior stakeholders
- Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance obligations
- Sound judgement and decision-making in complex environments
- Experience across insurance, highly regulated corporate and/or public sector settings
- Qualifications in risk, business, finance, law or related fields
