Hepatology Research Registrar – Shape the Future of Liver Disease Care

Part-time Hepatology Research Registrar role at Flinders Medical Centre, SALHN, Adelaide — fixed term to January 2028. Join a leading liver disease research team.

About the role:

The position is accountable to the Head of the South Australian Hepatology and Transplant Medicine Unit at FMC. The post is designed to assist in the provision of a high-quality Hepatology and Liver Transplant service to patients in the wards, Endoscopy Unit and outpatients. As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years.

Duties for the role will include:

- Assistance in the provision and supervision of Hepatology and Liver Transplant services to patients in Flinders Medical Centre and elsewhere in Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.
- Undertake quality improvement activities, co-ordinated care processes and research activities as required.
- Participation in an afterhours endoscopy on call roster for emergencies.
- Contributing to the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions, including discharge summaries, management plans, diagnoses and recording of key clinical events. Some of these functions may be delegated to junior medical staff.
- The role will include regular Hepatology clinics and endoscopy lists, involvement in research projects within the Hepatology unit, and inclusion in the weekend Hepatology ward cover roster.



The position provides the opportunity to undertake a Masters degree via Flinders University, supervised by academic members of the Hepatology team and attracts an associated research stipend.

About you:

- MBBS or equivalent, with Full Registration with the Medical Board of South Australia as a medical officer.
- Post-RACP written and clinical examinations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
- Ability to supervise more junior medical staff.
