Join our People & Culture team as a Human Resources Business Partner and play a key role in supporting the success of a dynamic local government organisation.
As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will be a trusted advisor to People Leaders across Council, providing operational support and strategic advice across the full employee lifecycle. The role focuses on translating business needs into practical people solutions and ensuring People Leaders have the capability and support to effectively lead their teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Directors, Managers and Coordinators to provide strategic and operational people advice that supports service delivery, workforce capability and achievement of Council's objectives.
- Deliver contemporary HR solutions across the full employee lifecycle, including workforce planning, organisational design, talent management, leadership development, performance and employee engagement.
- Partner with leaders to successfully implement change initiatives, supporting workforce readiness, stakeholder engagement and sustainable organisational outcomes.
- Support leaders to effectively manage their teams by providing practical guidance, coaching and advice on people matters, workforce challenges and best-practice people management.
- Manage complex and sensitive people matters with professionalism, sound judgement and a solutions-focused approach.
- Collaborate with specialist HR functions to deliver integrated workforce solutions across recruitment, onboarding,
learning and development, performance, wellbeing, HR systems and employee experience.
- Develop innovative and pragmatic people solutions that balance business priorities, workforce needs and operational realities in a dynamic local government environment.
- Drive people and culture programs aligned with Council's Delivery Program, Operational Plan and Workforce Management Plan.
- Partner with leaders to identify workforce challenges and opportunities, leading targeted people initiatives and projects that improve workforce capability, team effectiveness, service delivery and organisational performance.

About You The successful applicant:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or extensive job-related experience in workplace relations or human resources.
- Class C Driver Licence
- Generalist HR management experience including workforce planning, talent engagement, change management, and workplace design
- Experience in coaching, influencing and partnering with people leaders to achieve sound organisational outcomes
- Experience in using a flexible approach to problem solving and capacity to apply relevant best practice principles in service delivery.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary people and organisational development practices, issues and trends and application in the workplace including relevant legislation and policies.
- Knowledge and skills in strategic planning on workforce related matters and how specific initiatives improve workforce performance to deliver business goals.
- Demonstrated high level communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated strong coaching, influencing and motivation skills, with the ability to influence and gain cooperation and assistance from others as required.
- Desirable: Proven experience in unionised environments (no direct industrial relations experience required).
