Temporary Part-Time HR Manager

15-20 hours per week | Hybrid | Hours spread across three to four days a week | Collingwood, Victoria A senior, hands-on people role with real influence in an independent Australian media company.

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to provide trusted, practical people support to our leaders and employees while continuing to strengthen our people and culture frameworks.

THE OPPORTUNITY The HR Manager position is a temporary part-time role to provide dedicated HR support and continuity during our current HR Manager’s period of planned leave. Operating as the sole HR professional for the business, you will take full ownership of the function from early November 2026 and through to March 2027.

The role is 15-20 hours per week, with the hours usually spread across four days. The HR Manager will operate on a hybrid basis, combining agreed time in our Collingwood office with remote work. The spread of hours is important. It will provide the business with regular access to senior HR advice throughout the week, while offering flexibility in how work time is structured.

You will be a calm and credible adviser who can handle sensitive employee matters, coach leaders and deliver practical improvements.



The role suits an experienced HR qualified who enjoys the breadth, pace, flexibility and autonomy of a standalone position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Advise and coach leaders and employees across the full range of people matters.
- Manage employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievances, conflict resolution and workplace change.
- Provide clear advice on contracts, policies, award entitlements, the National Employment Standards and contemporary employment obligations.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, probation, development, remuneration reviews and offboarding.
- Review and improve HR policies, processes, templates, systems and employee documentation.
- Use workforce information and case trends to identify risks, priorities and opportunities for improvement.

ABOUT YOU

- You bring substantial senior HR generalist or business partnering experience, including significant hands-on employee relations case management.
- You have advised CEOs, executives and managers and can build trust while offering clear, independent and commercially practical advice.
- You understand Australian employment and industrial relations frameworks and can translate them into fair, workable solutions.
- You have demonstrated experience in organisational change, workforce planning, policy and contract development, leadership coaching and process improvement.




- You communicate exceptionally well, exercise sound judgement and handle confidential matters with care.
- You hold a relevant HR, industrial relations or related qualification with membership of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
- Media, journalism, publishing, creative-industry experience or not for profit experience will be well regarded.
- Experience with the Employment Hero HR System will also be well regarded.

THE ARRANGEMENT

Hours: 15-20 hours per week, ordinarily spread across four days

Work mode: Hybrid, with agreed attendance at our Collingwood office

Term: Temporary part-time position from about November 4, 2026, to early March 2027.

Remuneration: $70 - $75 per hour plus superannuation
