What to Expect
Atmosphere is a machine that heats, cools and makes hot water with an AI compute node inside it. It is installed on a living-room wall, beside the house in the garden, in a hospital plant room and in a laundry. Each version has to be the best-looking object in its setting, the outdoor unit above all.
We have a working prototype, a product page and a render set that define the design language: plaster and warm neutrals, oxide red as the single accent, a line of warm light along the panel edge, no visible fasteners, a logo no larger than a glyph. You will make the production units match the renders at the volumes we build, and keep them matching through manufacture.
What You'll Do
- Design the outdoor unit: heat pump and compute node in one sculptural enclosure rated for 10 years outdoors. Single material surface, no exposed fasteners, no appliance grille, the light line as the only signal.
- Design the spa: a Terraform product for a deck or balcony, heated by the machine. Shell, cover, finish, water edge detail.
- Design the indoor home unit: the wall panel emitter as a finished architectural surface, the hydraulic enclosure, the node enclosure and its status light. Grilles, service access and controls concealed or integrated.
- Design the plant-room rack as a product: one module, one clean face, coolant and cable routing concealed, front-serviceable.
- Specify colour,
material and finish for manufacture and cost them into the BOM with the Lead Product Engineer.
- Deliver concept boards, CMF specification, surface CAD released into the engineering PDM, a hero render set for the product page and website, and a physical appearance model before pilot.
- Hold design intent through DFM. Where a supplier cannot make it, solve it with the engineer.
What You'll Bring
- A portfolio of shipped physical products where the production object matches the render: appliances, lighting, furniture, hardware or vehicles.
- Surface modelling in SolidWorks, Rhino or Alias, and experience releasing into an engineering PDM.
- CMF depth: sheet metal finishes, powder coat, anodising, mineral and composite panels, plaster-effect surfaces, outdoor finishes with 10-year colour stability, and the cost of each at 1,000 and at 10,000 units.
- Rendering and presentation to product-page standard.
- Experience working directly with engineers and suppliers, and judgement on which details to hold and which to concede.
- Evidence of exceptional ability.
Compensation
Day rate A$900 to A$1,400 by portfolio. Credit on the product.
