- 360 Underwriting Solutions is seeking an experienced and hands-on Insurance Accounts Manager to lead our Insurance Accounts Team within Finance Group Services.
- Based in Sydney’s Barangaroo precinct, this role is responsible for leading a team of five Insurance Accounts Officers, ensuring the accurate, timely and controlled delivery of insurance accounting activities across our portfolio of underwriting agencies.
- The Insurance Accounts Manager will provide day-to-day leadership and technical oversight across receipting, account allocation, trust and premium reconciliations, debtor management, account query resolution, month-end processes, compliance support and financial reporting.
- This is a key operational finance leadership role, partnering closely with underwriters, Finance leadership and other stakeholders to maintain robust financial controls, improve processes and ensure consistently high standards of service across the Group.
- The position is ideal for an experienced insurance finance professional who enjoys leading people while remaining close to operational accounting activities and driving continuous improvement.
2. PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Insurance Accounts Manager is responsible for leading the Insurance Accounts Team and ensuring the accurate, timely and productive completion of insurance accounting activities across the Group.
The role will
- Lead, coach and develop a team of five Insurance Accounts Officers / Accountants.
- Ensure daily receipts and payments are processed accurately and within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain oversight of unallocated cash and ensure timely and accurate allocation to underlying policies.
- Oversee Trust and Premium reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are investigated and resolved within agreed KPIs.
- Monitor overdue debtor balances and ensure appropriate follow-up and escalation.
- Ensure account queries and policy/payment discrepancies are resolved promptly in collaboration with underwriting teams.
- Maintain effective financial controls and ensure processes comply with Group policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support month-end, reporting, audit and compliance activities.
- Partner with the Financial Controller, Deputy CFO and broader Finance team on reporting, analysis and business initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency, control and service delivery.
3. POSITION CONTEXT:
- The Insurance Accounts Manager operates in a hands-on finance environment supporting multiple underwriting agencies.
- The role requires a strong combination of people leadership, insurance accounting knowledge, operational discipline and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will be expected to manage the daily performance of the team while also providing technical guidance and personally assisting with complex or high-risk matters where necessary.
- The role has responsibility for maintaining strong financial controls around cash receipting, premium allocation, trust reconciliations and debtor management. As such, a strong attention to detail and an ability to identify and escalate financial or operational risk are critical.
- The Insurance Accounts Manager will work closely with the Financial Controller, Deputy CFO, CFO, underwriting teams and the broader Finance function and will play an important role in developing scalable and efficient processes as the Group continues to grow.
JOB SPECIFICATION
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- CA / CPA qualification, or progress toward a recognised accounting qualification, is desirable.
EXPERIENCE
- Approximately 5+ years' relevant experience within insurance accounting, accounts receivable, credit control, premium accounting or a similar finance environment.
- Previous experience leading or supervising an accounting or finance operations team.
- Demonstrated experience managing high-volume transactional accounting and reconciliations.
- Experience supporting month-end and financial reporting processes.
- Exposure to internal/external audit and financial control environments.
- Experience within insurance, underwriting agencies, broking or financial services is strongly preferred.
SKILLS

KNOWLEDGE
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable, cash allocation and debtor management processes.
- Understanding of Trust and Premium reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of insurance premium flows between brokers, underwriting agencies and insurers is desirable.
- Strong financial systems literacy and confidence working with large volumes of financial data.
- Understanding of audit, compliance and documentation requirements.
