Sydney-based | A Co-operative Supporting Independent Retail
Own a territory. Build a movement. Grow independent retail. Our client exists for one reason: to make its members — independent supermarket owners — more profitable and more sustainable. It's a lean, fast-moving business, and it's looking for a driven relationship-builder to lead growth across NSW, based out of Sydney.
If you love the energy of a start-up, thrive on being out in the field, and get a kick out of turning a valuable relationship into a great commercial outcome, this is your seat.
The Opportunity
As NSW Key Account Manager, you'll be the face of the co-op across NSW, including several MSOs (multi-site operators). This is a genuine territory-owner role — part relationship manager, part business consultant, part deal-maker. You'll spend the majority of your time in the market with members, not behind a desk, which means every day looks a little different: a business review here, a new-member conversation there, a supplier deal to close in between.
What You'll Be Doing
- Growing the base — building strong relationships with member businesses and working alongside them to grow their business
- Winning new members — identifying prospective members and bringing them into the co-op
- Driving Direct Ranging — lifting product ranging and sales through quarterly business reviews and sharp territory management
- Closing the gaps — connecting preferred suppliers with members and closing availability gaps (matrix), backed by solid data and insight
What You'll Bring
- A self-starter mindset — comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a start-up environment
- A can-do attitude with a willingness to "make it happen"
- The ability to distil complex information into clear, concise conversations with members
- A professional, positive, can-do approach
- Strong commercial instincts, confident Excel skills, and a sharp eye for numbers
- Excellent written and verbal communication
How Success Is Measured
- Territory revenue growth
- Current members signed
- Matrix squares closed
- Member engagement
The Details
Standard hours are 8:30am–5:00pm, with the flexibility to flex around the demands of the industry. This is a full-time role, spent both on the road with members across the territory and in office/home completing key account activities. Ready to build something with real ownership behind it? If you're commercially sharp, relationship-driven, and want the autonomy of running your own patch, we'd love to hear from you.
