About The Role
As a Kitchen Steward, you’ll support the smooth operation of a busy hotel kitchen for one of our clients in Melbourne CBD.
You’ll work closely with chefs and the kitchen team, making sure they have the clean equipment and work areas they need to deliver a great service. You’ll be responsible for cleaning dishes, pots, pans and trays, keeping floors and kitchen areas clean, managing bins and completing end-of-event cleaning duties.
This is an evening/overnight role, ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and is comfortable working after events and during busy periods. You’ll work as part of a team but will also need to confidently complete tasks independently and take pride in the standard of your work.

- Melbourne CBD
- Shifts available across Tuesday to Saturday
- Evening/overnight – 6:00pm to 2:00am

What You’ll Be Doing Your day-to-day work will mainly involve:
- Supporting chefs and kitchen staff by washing and cleaning dishes, pots, pans, trays, cutlery, crockery, glassware and other kitchen equipment, ensuring clean items are available when needed.
- Cleaning kitchen areas and equipment, including benches, work areas, stoves, grill plates, salamanders and deep fryers, in line with required hygiene and quality standards.
- Cleaning floors and managing waste, including sweeping, mopping and scrubbing floors, emptying and cleaning bins,
and removing waste to designated areas.
- Completing end-of-service and end-of-event cleaning, leaving the kitchen and food and beverage areas clean, tidy, hygienic and ready for the next service.
- Working safely and professionally, including following HACCP, WHS and chemical handling requirements, reporting hazards or breakages, and supporting the team to maintain a high standard throughout the shift.
About You We’re looking for people with a valuable attitude who are reliable, safety conscious and comfortable with hands-on work.
You’ll Ideally
- Have commercial kitchen, hospitality, hotel or food and beverage experience, with an understanding of fast-paced environments.
- Be physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work, including washing dishes, moving equipment, emptying bins and scrubbing floors.
- Have a good understanding of hygiene, HACCP and protected chemical handling.
- Be reliable, punctual and available to work the required evening/overnight roster, including after events.
- Be able to work independently while also supporting chefs and the wider kitchen team when needed.
- Have sufficient English skills to understand workplace procedures, training and WHS requirements, and be comfortable using electronic rostering and timesheet systems.
