Lead Design Drafter

Location: Osborne Park, on-site in office

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Lead Design Drafter to join our team. This is a key role responsible for managing the drafting process from material estimation through to production, while ensuring accurate documentation, clear communication, and efficient workflow between the drafting, production, and site teams.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent attention to detail, and be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Material Estimating & Project Support

- Estimate material quantities required for projects based on sales quotations, including cladding and battens.
- Monitor available materials for each job and identify potential shortages.
- Track panel square metre quantities against quoted allowances and notify Project Managers of any variations, including reasons where possible.

Drafting & Documentation

- Prepare accurate shop drawings using AutoCAD, including:
- Floor plans
- Reflected ceiling plans (RCPs)
- Elevations
- Construction details
- Create individual panel drawings using dimensions supplied by in office crews.
- Issue drawing packages and PDFs for review and approval.

Production Coordination

- Liaise with site crews to obtain drawing approvals prior to production.
- Generate CNC cutting files using ProfileLab and release approved panels into production.
- Maintain production schedules by adding new projects and removing completed batches.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Communication & Reporting

- Communicate material requirements and ordering instructions to Project Managers and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate regularly with site teams, production staff, and management via phone, email, Microsoft Teams,



text messages, and WhatsApp.
- Provide updates regarding material usage, project progress, and remakes.

Continuous Improvement

- Maintain batch and remake registers for multiple business divisions.
- Monitor remake levels and investigate root causes where excessive remakes occur.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency.

About You To be successful in this position, you will have:

Essential Skills & Experience

- Previous experience using AutoCAD in a drafting or design role.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills across various platforms and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and during busy periods.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.

Desirable

- Experience using ProfileLab or similar CNC programming software.
- Experience within construction, manufacturing, cladding, or panel production environments.
- Understanding of production workflows and material management.
