Are you a deep technical expert looking for your next career move?
Ready to step away from long hours on site and into a leadership role that genuinely values work–life balance?
The Role
We are seeking a Lead Geotechnical Engineer to join our client’s Newcastle office as the technical leader within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
You’ll lead a high-performing team, coordinate resources across a diverse portfolio of projects, and provide technical leadership across the resources, energy, heavy industry, coastal, port and marine sectors.
Your expertise will span complex geotechnical challenges including ground investigations, slope stability, retaining structures, tailings storage facilities, and ground improvement. You’ll provide technical guidance, mentor and develop the team, and foster a collaborative, solutions-focused environment.
With established panel agreements with major Tier 1 clients, you’ll have access to large, multidisciplinary projects across Australia. You’ll also play an important role in securing and delivering local NSW projects, helping to grow the Newcastle office’s engineering and design capabilities.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing consultancy where you’ll have the autonomy to build,
mentor and develop your own team while making a genuine impact on the region’s continued success.
The Business:
You’ll join a 100% employee-owned multidisciplinary consultancy offering genuine hybrid working arrangements within a relaxed, collaborative office environment.
The business is committed to investing in its people through personalised development plans, supported pathways to chartered status, paid professional memberships and clear opportunities for career progression.
What You Bring
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or Earth Science.
- Significant experience within the heavy industry, mining, energy or resources sectors, with strong expertise in relevant geotechnical design systems and software.
- Solid technical reporting skills and the ability to build long-term relationships with clients, designers and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- A proven ability to lead, mentor and develop engineers while providing high-level technical direction.
