About the role The Medical Officer is a key member of Nucleus Network’s Medical Operations team, responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clinical trial participants while providing medical oversight and contributing to the successful delivery of Phase 1 clinical trials.
In this role, you will conduct medical assessments, monitor participant safety, provide clinical care, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the development of innovative new therapies.
Working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to all aspects of early-phase clinical research while playing a key role in participant safety, medical oversight and the development of new therapies.

Key responsibilities
- Leading the informed consent process and conducting medical assessments to determine participant suitability for clinical trials.
- Monitoring the health and wellbeing of trial participants throughout study participation.
- Providing medical care and clinical oversight to healthy volunteers and patients involved in Phase 1 studies.
- Reviewing, interpreting and signing off diagnostic test results and other clinical data.
- Working collaboratively with Clinical Operations, Project Management, Pharmacy, Laboratory Services and Quality teams to successfully deliver clinical trials.
- Acting as a Sub-Investigator or Investigator on Phase 1 clinical trials in accordance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Contributing to the generation of high-quality clinical data that supports the development of new medicines and therapies.
Requirements
- AHPRA Registration: Full General Registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner with no restrictions.
- Medical Experience: Minimum PGY3, with strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Interest in Clinical Research: You are curious about medical innovation and excited by the opportunity to contribute to the development of current treatments.
- Collaborative Approach: You enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
- Strong Communication Skills: Able to build rapport with participants and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Availability: Available to work 4 to 5 days per week across a 7-day rotating roster.
